Holiday Helper

Leeds: February Half -Term Holiday Hero - 2025

 

DATES: Saturday 15 February - Sunday 23 February 2025 

TRAINING: Thursday 23 January 1pm – 5pm 

Training is mandatory for all new volunteers. 

SHIFT TIMES: AM Shift (9.40am - 1pm), PM Shift (12:30 - 4pm) or ALL DAY (9.40am - 3pm) 

LOCATION: Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds 

This challenge requires a minimum of one full volunteering day commitment and attendance at a training session.  

Get involved during the week with the following activities: 

  • Welcoming visitors 

  • Queue busting  

  • Helping support Superhero craft activities 

  • Marshalling show spaces 

  • Donation support 

  • Evaluation 

You must be over 16 to participate in this activity.   

What's involved?

Welcoming visitors, Queue busting and Marshalling Show spaces 

Offering a warm welcome and general wayfinding for our visitors; helping marshal our show spaces; you will be asked to support queueing and re-directing visitors to other activities during busy periods. 

 

Donation support 

Some of our activities include a suggested donation, you may be asked to support the collection of this donation using a contactless device.  Training will be given. 

 

Signposting 

Helping to facilitate the Superheroes’ trail, signposting visitors to the trail points and pointing out the Superhero links to cased collections objects. 

 

Craft Activities 

Assist in keeping the superhero craft activities stocked and tidy. 

 

Evaluation 

Evaluating our events is really important to us. You may be asked to handout evaluation cards for visitors to fill in as they leave.

How to get involved?

Step 1) Accept the challenge.  

Step 2) For new volunteers we will contact you to arrange the date for an informal phone chat. We'll discuss your interests and expectations, and your availability.  

Step 3) We will send you details and information about your availability for the training and delivery days.  

Step 4) Enjoy your experience and log your hours. 

Step 5) Leave feedback with us so we can improve future volunteering opportunities.  

If you haven't volunteered on site with us before we will ask you to bring along some photo ID - such as a passport, and details of an emergency contact - and the contact details of one reference  

Volunteers must be 16 or older for this challenge
